Senior Research Analyst , Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for a Senior Research Analyst in its Energy Studies Department.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Develops in-house econometric models, in particular OPEC energy model, introducing new analytical approaches to modelling world oil and energy supply and demand;
  • Prepares the annual report on medium- to long-term oil and energy supply and demand outlook, including development of scenarios, to analyse the impact of potential energy supply and demand developments on OPEC;
  • Coordinates the input to the OPEC energy model from upstream and downstream analyses as well as the analyses of alternative energies and consolidates key factors in building  scenarios;
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports, analysing various aspects of energy economics as they may affect the medium- to long-term oil and energy outlook;
  • Updates, modifies, runs and coordinates in-house econometric models, such as OWEM and develops a reference case for the yearly long-term oil and energy demand outlook;
  • Contributes to and/or delivers speeches, articles and presentations to internal meetings and international forums. 
Requirements:
  • University degree in economics or energy economics, with emphasis on econometrics or mathematical economics;
  • Advanced degree preferred;
  • University degree: 10 years of work experience;
  • Advanced degree: 8 years of work experience.

Offer:

Commensurate remuneration package i.e. monthly basic salary of (€6,078 x 12 per year) with tax-free benefits and six-week annual leave.
