Senior Research Officer

Purpose of the Job
To participate in the design, analysis, management and execution of research studies
related to fiscal policy and international trade

Major Activities of the Job
      i.        Carry out analysis related to fiscal policy and international trade.
     ii.        Assess and review revenue performance on a monthly and quarterly basis including the causes of any outstanding or underperformance.
    iii.        Assess the impact of tax measures undertaken by the Government.
   iv.        Collect and maintain the data necessary for tax analysis.
    v.        Participate in the Tax Task force of the Ministry of Finance and Public Expenditure Review (PER) meetings.
   vi.        Prepare quarterly macroeconomic performance reports.
  vii.        Carry out statistical analysis of data using best practice techniques and computer applications.
 viii.        Liaise with departments to agree on the data to be collected, the analysis to be carried out, and the format in which the output will be presented.
   ix.        Track and asses the micro-economic developments and delineate their impact on the fiscal in general and the Central Government Revenue in particular.
    x.        Participate in the preparation of input to be included in the tax reform.
   xi.        Coordinate responses to questions from members of parliament to TRA.
  xii.        Provide input or advice on the country position issues relating to region cooperation and negations.
 xiii.        Attend meetings related to poverty reduction and inter institutional workshops.
xiv.         Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job requirements.
Qualification
      i.        Advanced Diploma or Degree in Economics or Public Finance or Taxation,
Statistics or Operational Research or its equivalent from a recognised Institution/ University.
     ii.        Masters Degree in Economics or Public Finance or Taxation or Statistics or Operational Research or its equivalent from a recognised
Institution/University.
    iii.        Ability to use various Statistical and Research Software and Packages.
   iv.        Postgraduate Studies in Taxation/Customs or its equivalent will be added advantage

Experience
Four (4) years of relevant working experience.
