Lafarge Tanzania (Mbeya Cement Company Limited) is a subsidiary of Lafarge group of companies with its head quarters in Paris France. Lafarge is among the leading companies in building materials and is at the top position on Cement Industry in the world. Lafarge Tanzania is seeking to recruit highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to be based in its Mbeya Plant.
Position Reporting: Mechanical Manager
Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensure completion of mechanical maintenance jobs with the highest level of quality, safety and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximise equipment availability
• Abide by all of Mbeya Cement’s Health & Safety standards, carry out VFL’s (Visible Felt Leadership) at Mbeya Cement sites as well as supplier locations, communicate and ensure compliance of the standards
• Lead & facilitate the team for weekly toolbox talks and conduct Serious Event Reviews (SERs) of the safety incidents happening in our plants or other Lafarge plants
• Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and necessary resources. Assign and review work to perform with the craftsmen
• Embrace preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and contribute to their improvement
• Optimise maintenance operations, using best available tools and procedures in order to maximise equipment availability
Technical Competencies
• Education: Advanced Diploma/First Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience as Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge of cement process is desirable
Additional skills:
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor circuits
• Knowledge of gearboxes, transmissions, welding techniques, lubrication, non destructive tests and general mechanics
• Computer literate
