Legal Affairs & Trade Policy Adviser

Orgalime is currently looking for an Adviser on Legal Affairs and Trade Policy, to reinforce the Orgalime Legal and Trade Policy department.
 
Orgalime, the European Engineering Industries Association, founded in 1954, speaks for 43 trade federations or associations representing some 130,000 companies in the mechanical, electrical, electronic, metalworking & metal articles industries of 23 European countries to the exclusion of the vehicles, aircraft and shipbuilding industries. The industry employs some 10.3 million people in the EU and in 2014 accounted for some €1,825 billion of output. The industry accounts for over a quarter of manufacturing output and a third of the manufactured exports of the European Union. 
 
Job description:
  • To support, advise and proactively drive Orgalime’s advocacy efforts on trade policy and legal affairs at EU level
  • Represent Orgalime and be in regular contact with the European institutions and European stakeholders
  • Manage Orgalime Trade Policy and Legal Affairs working groups and expert attendance at a wide range of external meetings, incl. facilitation of preparation, reporting and follow-up to such meetings
  • Work closely within the existing team, incl. the technical department and member associations; reporting to the head of the Legal and Trade department.
Your profile:
  • University degree in law (European, international law, ideally international trade law or contract law)
  • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience (engineering industry, associations, EU institutions, consultancy, etc.) in one/more of the following areas: trade policy, legal affairs, and technical regulation. Experience in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations a distinct plus
  • Good knowledge of EU Institutions and decision-making
  • Strong networker with proven written/oral communication skills; self-starter and team player with an analytical mind and an eye both for detail and the broader picture
  • Fluent in English (spoken & written), good German or French and possibly a 3rd European language
