ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 

Musoni is a Kenya-based MFI. It exclusively uses mobile money transfer services for all loan repayments and disbursements. Its use of the Kenyan M-PESA service, with its large number of agents and clients, has enabled it to offer an alternative to the traditional microfinance processes.

ABOUT THE JOB: 

Musoni is seeking a Chief Operations Officer. S/he will be responsible for providing leadership to the day to day operations, achieving set targets, while maintaining focus on the company’s strategic goals. S/he will directly report to the chief executive officer.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Consistently grow the company's product portfolio through the branch managers;
• Monitor branch performance in relation to the various products;
• Ensure 100% compliance to policies and procedures;
• Ensure high levels of efficiencies in line with the organization's processes;
• Implement and continuously enforce cashless, paperless, and data driven business solutions;
• Delinquency management in view of maintaining portfolio quality at acceptable levels;
• Supervise, support, and mentor the branch managers in executing the agreed operational targets and ensure that they perform their duties optimally;
• Ensure high staff productivity and motivation levels across the operations department;
• Maintain and develop lasting relationship with staff, clients, and external partners.

Qualifications:

• Holder of Bachelor's degree in Business Management or equivalent. Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
• Minimum 5 years of experience in credit operations and at least 2 years in credit operations in microfinance bank;
• High computer skills with knowledge in core banking system;
• Strong interpersonal, management, and leadership skills;
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate and maintain positive relationships with staff;
• Understanding of accounting and financial management issues affecting the microfinance sector;
• Demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams to achieve goals through teamwork;
• Awareness of and sensitivity to local culture and political settings as may affect the institutions business;
• Customer service orientation and commercial awareness;
• Project management and business process skills.
