Migration & Development Civil Society Programme (MADE)
The Migration and Development Civil Society Programme (MADE) aims to build civil society’s global network, voice and impact for migrants, migrant rights, diaspora and development. In direct assistance to the Programme Manager, the administration and events assistant will help with the administration and operations for the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Civil Society Days 2015, taking place from 12 – 14 October in Turkey. The position is full-time and for 4 – 6 months, starting as soon as possible. The intern will receive an intern allowance in accordance with Belgian law.
Responsibilities and tasks:
Working closely with the Programme Manager, the administration and events assistant will assist with:
  • the selection, registration, financial support and reimbursement for civil society representatives participating in the GFMD Civil Society Days 2015
  • monitoring the GFMD e-mail accounts, responding to queries by civil society applicants, participants and others and wider communication with civil society on operational and logistical matters
  • maintaining and updating a contact database for the GFMD and the MADE network
  • assisting in the programme and logistical preparations of the GFMD civil society days, including speakers invitations, coordinating side-events, exhibition space and more
  • assist in the communication and outreach
  • preparing meeting reports, including of the International Steering Committee
  • performing any other duties to contribute to the MADE Programme, and help organize the GFMD CSD 2015 successfully
Qualifications
  • a great planner and organizer
  • experience with the GFMD, migration-related NGO, labour or other civil society organizations and networks a major plus
  • (in final stages of) degree in migration studies, law, international relations, public policy, administration, event management or a related field 
  • ability to work collaboratively with civil society partners
  • excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in French and/or Spanish are a major plus.
  • strong computer skills
  • ability to work on a team in an international environment, independently and under pressure
