Information Management Officer NFI/Shelter Cluster

CANADEM is seeking candidates with previous UN and international experience who are available for an immediate deployment to Iraq with IOM for a 3 month contract ASAP.

Position title: Information Management Officer NFI/Shelter Cluster Iraq
Grade: P3
General Functions:
Under the overall supervision of the IOM Iraq chief of mission and the direct supervision of the Shelter Programme Manager in close coordination with the NFI/Shelter Cluster Coordinator, the Information Management Officer will be providing information management support to the NFI/Shelter Cluster in Iraq. In particular he/she will:
  1. Identify the relevant information requirements of the Cluster partners and other key partners including governorate, district and local authorities in emergency/recovery shelter response, and encourage information sharing among stakeholders.
  2. Support the Sub-National Cluster Coordinator in coordinating all information gathering and information collection processes, including monitoring and analyzing of data, specifically aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the response.
  3. Provide technical and capacity building support to Cluster partners in the analysis of data as well as visualization (such as mapping, gap analysis, producing info graphics etc.) and reporting to Cluster partners as required.
  4. Regularly engage and represent the NFI/Shelter Cluster in the Information Management Working Group and the Assessment Working Group, feeding back to the Cluster as relevant.
  5. Develop and maintain the NFI/Shelter Cluster information management and mapping tools, including but not limited to the Shelter Cluster website, 4W spreadsheets, dashboards, snapshots, pipeline tracking documents and distribution tracking documents as required.
  6. Support the Sub-National Cluster Coordinator and Technical Coordinator in developing a monitoring framework for the Cluster indicators.
  7. Work towards the achievement of the NFI/Shelter Cluster’s goals in Iraq through effective managerial and lateral relations and teamwork.
  8. Liaise with humanitarian stakeholders and relevant government counterparts on behalf of the NFI/Shelter Cluster as required.
  9. Establish contact with appropriate partner agencies when basic or special needs are identified.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
(Education and experience)
• Advanced university degree in information technology, geographic information systems or social sciences or any discipline related to information management, analysis, displacement mapping, tracking and monitoring or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience in shelter and information management related activities in natural disaster or conflict situations.
• Minimum of two years of practical experience in program formulation or information management at national and international levels.
• Broad sector knowledge and/or field experience in the areas of information management, coordination, shelter, displacement management, disaster risk reduction, humanitarian reform is preferred.
• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities and with other national and international institutions.
• Familiarity with the region an asset.

• Very good knowledge of inter-agency and cluster processes.
• Excellent demonstrated analytical skills applied on a wide range of factors, parameters, policies and priorities for the assessment and resolution of complex situations, including technical understanding.
• Personal commitment, drive for results, efficiency and flexibility.
• Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team and harmoniously in the inter-agency context with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
• Very good level of computer literacy.
• Excellent knowledge of English, working knowledge of Arabic or Kurdish is an advantage.
