The Transnational Institute seeks a Finance Manager
The Transnational Institute (TNI) is an international non-profit research and advocacy network coordinated from Amsterdam. It aims to serve the information needs of progressive transnational social movements by organising conferences, producing and publicising reports, facilitating international networking and advocacy work on a range of themes. Please see more at www.tni.org. TNI has 15 FTE on its staff in Amsterdam, and many others on contract around the world, and works with many international partners. We are looking for a:
Finance Manager (24 hours)
In this role, you will manage a budget of approx. Euro 3 million annually. You will be leading our small Finance Unit), be part of the Management Team and report to the Executive Director. The Finance Manager must be able to combine management responsibilities with hands on day-to-day work.
Key responsibilities are to ensure:
* The Finance Unit has professional, efficient and functionally appropriate systems in place
* TNI's annual budget is drafted carefully and accurately in time
* Quarterly management reports are drafted accurately in time
* The Director, Management Team and Board have accurate financial information as required for informed financial decision-making
* Fundraising budgets are well coordinated
* TNI's financial obligations to donors are met to the highest standards
* Finance staff and volunteers are well managed, effective in carrying out their tasks and formally appraised annually
* Good communications with funders and partners regarding budget matters
* Clear financial policies and procedures are developed for approval by Board and Director
Essential qualities include:
* At least 3 years Finance Management experience in a non-profit context
* SPD, HEAO-BE or equivalent qualification
* Experience with bookkeeping (excellent knowledge of excel, and booking software, preferably Unit4)
* Fluent in English and Dutch
* Political awareness and interest in TNI's projects
* Excellent communication and time management skills, hands on mentality.

TNI is offering a 0.67 FTE position (24 hours/week) to be filled as soon as possible. The gross annual salary offered would be Euro 22,340 - Euro 25,342, negotiable depending on qualifications and experience, plus 8% vacation pay. TNI also offers generous contributions to a group pension fund.

Applicants must be prepared to commute to Amsterdam three days a week and have a valid (European) work permit.
