Visitor Center Representative, Acacia Vineyard

Diageo is the world`s leading premium drinks business with an outstanding collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, beer and wine. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Windsor, Buchanan`s and Bushmills whiskies, Smirnoff, Ciroc and Ketel One vodkas, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray and Guinness. 
 
Purpose of Role:
Responsible for providing an excellent consumer experience to our guests through pouring wines, educating our customers on our wines (and wine in general) and acting as an informed resource regarding winemaking, winegrowing, production, vintages and product availability and awards and accolades.  
 
Financial Responsibility
Must actively participate in helping the team to achieve the required monthly Sales Goals and Monthly Wine Club signup goals.


Complexity of Role
Must have excellent knowledge of customer service and be comfortable with cash management and cash register skills. This candidate must have knowledge of wines, winemaking; winegrowing and production, capable of working with the team on creative programming, and can adhere to all compliance and regulatory laws regarding alcoholic beverage shipping and consumption.
 
Decision Making 
Must be adaptable and comfortable with change such as having to be responsive to a consumer (within appropriate legal and procedural guidelines).
 
Must be comfortable communicating compliance requirements to a consumer such as shipping laws and restrictions, requiring appropriate identification as required by state law for serving alcoholic beverages and recognizing symptoms of intoxication and acting in accordance with state law.
 
Key Outputs:
 
  • Responsible for achieving, as part of the team, the required monthly Sales goals and monthly Wine Club sign up goals.
  • Responsible for assisting Wine Club Coordinator with database and the “specials” part of the Wine Club.
  • Must be capable of updating daily communications such as tasting notes, price lists, and signage. 
  • Must be able to assist with inventory processes. 
  • Must be able to utilize cash register (RMS manager) and run standard reports.
  • Work with team on executing events.
  • Responsible for adherence to all policies, procedures, federal and state laws and compliance with regard to alcoholic beverages
 
Qualifications and Experience Required:
 
  • Three years direct-to-consumer sales and/or customer service experience, Wine Club experience preferred.
  • Track record of generating direct-to-consumer sales
  • Must be able to demonstrated excellence in customer service
  • Strong computer skills, notably MSWord, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, POS System and RMS (Retail and Wine Club)
  • Must be self-motivated, highly organized, and require minimal day-to-day direction and work independently.
  • Must have strong written, verbal and organizational skills in English
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and consumers and have ability to engage guests.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts (Department operates Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional early or late events)
  • Must have basic understanding, equivalent experience or ability to learn and maintain knowledge of wine and winemaking as well as current trends/events in the wine business.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers about Tasting Room history and brand strategy, including the differences between product tiers.
  • Must be able to occasional travel to other Company locations.
  • Must have strong Interpersonal skills to adapt to all types/levels of customers.
  • Must be able to count money and make correct change, strong attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Must be able to remain calm and focused under pressure and be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid California Drivers License
  • Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance. Must be reliable and maintain good attendance record
