Sr. SCG Manager Americas

This role is responsible for leading sensory and consumer guidance initiatives for the North and Latin America Pipeline within Diageo. The successful candidate will need to bring strong technical and leadership skills to drive sensory/ consumer insights with partners in product development, commercialization and consumer planning/ marketing. Role will be primarily focused on Innovation initiatives, but expected to have eventual management of supply sensory resources primarily focused on commercialization initiatives. Role requires a balance of hands on project management along with the direct management and development of 3-5 sensory personnel. The person within this role will have a critical leadership role with the Head of Global Sensory and Consumer Guidance in the development, roll out and maintenance of best practices globally.
 
Purpose of Role: 
This role will ensure the sensory and consumer guidance needs of North and Latin America are met through direct project management and supervision of sensory professionals. The America’s SCG senior manager is expected to utilize internal sensory resources (locally and globally) along with external suppliers to guide development and ensure quality is maintained throughout the life cycle of the liquids (shelf life, cost reduction, plant quality)
 
Key Outputs:
 
  • Maintain a strong Sensory and Consumer Guidance group that serves both North and Latin America.
  • Ensure integrity of internal and external guidance information and apply in a business impactful manner.
  • Manage critical projects across Diageo’s portfolio ensuring timelines, results and potential risks (along with mitigation plans) are delivered and communicated to all key stakeholders
  • Manage and develop 3-5 sensory professionals for continuous improvement of Diageo’s business.
  • Develop a strong partnership with Innovation R&D, commercialization and consumer planning ensuring that sensory guidance is flawlessly delivered.
 
Qualifications and Experience Require:
 
  • Role requires BS + in Food Science/ Psychology (or related technical field) with 7+ years of direct sensory experience in a consumer product (beverage alcohol preferred) company.
  • Previous management experience in developing talent and programs
  • Proven success in delivering sensory guidance across the life cycle of a product including development and commercialization.
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple programs across a broad brand/product portfolio with a substantial workload.
  • Ability to concisely communicate and sell ideas to technical and non-technical audience in both written and verbal format.
