Role:
This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the physical environment of the IDB Group Data Centre based on industry standards, performing the enterprise backup and batch job operations, supporting the physical installation and conducting first level support of all IT hardware assets hosted in the Data Center and actively monitoring the IT infrastructure of IDB Group.
Key Activities:
  • Contribute to annual work plan and budget planning activities.
  • Contribute to the IT strategy and technical architecture definition, review and update related to the IT Infrastructure.
  • Evaluate industry standards and best practices for relevance and application to the IDB Group Data Centre.
  • Perform the capacity planning and design for the physical environment of the IDB Group Data Centre.
  • Coordinate the planning for the monitoring requirements for the IT Infrastructure of IDB Group.
  • Apply knowledge of IT standards and frameworks to Data Center administration process and practices.
  • Document and maintain the technical documentation for all aspects of the Data Center facilities, operations and monitoring.
  • Implement release and change management policies and procedures for Data Centre components.
  • Contribute to the design of enterprise disaster recovery procedures.
  • Analyse the business requirements related to the Data Center and evaluate and propose appropriate polutions.
  • Design the implementation of Data Center facilities in alignment with the business strategy, objectives and performance measures as well as industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the design of appropriate enterprise backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Implement the appropriate IT Infrastructure monitoring solutions with appropriate thresholds and alerts.
  • Develop and maintain the master job schedule for all Data Centre operations.
  • Monitor and supervise the physical installation and removal of all IT hardware assets in the Data Center by external service providers or by internal colleagues.
  • Supervise and monitor all physical access to the Data Centre.
  • Execute on-request batch jobs and monitor the status of automated batch jobs.
  • Apply the backup procedures for the IT Infrastructure and implement the media management procedures to ensure the safety of the backup data.
  • Proactively monitor the IT Infrastructure for availability and performance issues.
  • Apply Level 1 support for all hardware-related issues for IT equipment hosted in the Data Center including servers, storage and network devices as well as complementary components such as cabinets and cabling.
  • Identify and maintain the vendor information related to Data Centre products and services.
  • Coordinate with vendors for issues related to the physical installation of equipment in the Data Centre.
  • Report hardware problems to the appropriate equipment vendor and follow up on the resolution.
  • Formulate RFI, RFQ, and RFP documents related to Data Center facilities, operations or monitoring procurements.
  • Contribute to negotiation with vendors and formulation of the technical scope of vendor contracts with service level agreements to ensure that delivery and support services meet business requirements.
  • Contribute to research and evaluation of emerging Data Center technologies, products and services for suitability to IDB Group as per the technical requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Research IT best practices, trends and industry standard frameworks for managing and operating Data Centres.
  • Conduct a periodic Gap Analysis between Data Center best practices and the current situation in IDB Group in order to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain periodical reports on project status, including progress, issues and risks.
  • Maintain the relevant operational reports on performance, and availability. measurements in line with divisional, departmental and organizational objectives.

  • IT / any relevant discipline
  • Professional training on managing Data Center facilities and operations
  • Professional training on IT Standards and Frameworks – ITIL, CoBIT, ISO or equivalent
  • Data Center facilities design and implementation standards
  • Technical support of IT hardware – servers, storage, network devices
  • Installation, configuration and operation of IT monitoring solutions
  • Operation of backup software, hardware and media management
  • Installation, configuration and operation of job scheduling solutions
  • Knowledge of Data Center standards
