Organ:
The General Secretariat directs all the administrative and financial aspects of the Union's activities, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication matters for operational and other purposes, the provision of legal advice to the Bureaux of the Union and the departments of the General Secretariat, logistic support to the Union's activities including conferences, the coordination of the work of the Union with other international organizations, the dissemination of information to the Member States and Sector Members, press, corporate and individual users of telecommunications and the general public. The General Secretariat is also responsible for the organization of world telecommunication exhibitions and forums.
Organization Unit:
The TELECOM Secretariat has responsibility for the planning, organization and execution of all ITU Telecom world and regional telecommunication exhibitions and associated forums which are of considerable assistance in keeping the Member States and Sector Members informed of the latest advances in telecommunication techniques and in publicizing the possibilities of applying telecommunication science and technology for the benefit of all Members of the Union including the developing countries. ITU Telecom also features other related activities.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the Internship

  • Provide creative input from the inception stage of design work through to its final production. Gather information and material on the activities of MarComs Team and, using this information, design proposals for publications or promotional material. 
  • Based on the Event Concept campaign and toolkit, create Event marketing collaterals such as flyers, posters, online banners, etc.
  • Produce charts, graphs, illustrations, and similar type of artwork
  • Provide graphical support for websites, blogs and social media
  • Incorporate changes recommended by other Telecom Divisions into the draft proposals
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed; and review designs for errors before printing or publishing 
  • Complete projects by coordinating with the Expedition Team for Print material
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed; and perform any other duty assigned by supervisor
  • Qualifications required
    Education:

  • University degree or a technical equivalent in Graphic Design, communication or in a field related to the responsibilities of the post
  • Languages:

  • Excellent command of English and knowledge of one of the six official languages of the ITU (Arabic, Chinese. English, French, Russian, Spanish) an advantage
  • Competencies:

  • Graphic Design Skills, Layout Skills, Creativity, Flexibility, Attention to Detail, Conceptual, graphic design and layout skills
  • Experience with Windows-based software applications and all software part of the Adobe design suite
  • Acute Vision, understanding of colours, style of type, illustrations, photography and animation
  • Knowledge of Web, Social Media and Video applications an advantage
  • Understanding of latest digital marketing trends
  • Ability to respect and follow an existing branding
  • Open and able to take on board different team inputs

  • Additional Information:
    Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short term or a Fixed term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.
