The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) promotes Brazilian products and services abroad and attracts foreign investments to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy.
The Agency´s efforts comprise, inter alia, business platforms like trade and prospective missions, business rounds, support to the participation of Brazilian companies in major international trade fairs. Apex-Brasil coordinates the actions related to foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction into Brazil, seeking to allocate resources in sectors of strategic relevance for the development of the competitiveness of Brazilian companies and of the country itself.
Apex-Brasil currently supports around 13,000 companies in 80 productive sectors of Brazil’s economy that export to over 200 markets. Headquartered in Brasília, Apex-Brasil operates from strategically located offices throughout the world including Asia, the Middle East, North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. In Brussels, Apex-Brasil has two main departments, one focusing on the promotion of commercial activities, and the other on policy analysis. 

We are currently looking for a “Public Affairs Analyst” to be part of our Brussels team, reporting to the Head of EU Affairs.

Your role:

You will be responsible for generating content for Apex-Brasil, as well as monitoring, collection and analysis of information related to European Union policies that may have an impact on the formulation and implementation of the Agency’s strategies.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Monitor relevant topics for Brazilian sectors in these markets through collection, evaluation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data obtained from research in primary and secondary sources;
  • Provide updates and analysis on EU policies, with impact on Brazilian trade associations supported by the Agency;
  • Develop and maintain relations with EU institutions, Parliamentary staff, relevant Commission officials and other stakeholders working on these issues;
  • Research and write substantive analytical papers such as briefings, policy papers and other advocacy documents on relevant topics for internal and external use;
  • Raise awareness of Brazilian economic sectors through the organisation of events;
  • Support the implementation of measures to facilitate business, such as missions and dialogues in bilateral and multilateral international negotiating forums in partnership with key stakeholders;
  • Support the EU-Brazil agenda by producing analyses, studies and technical reports.

Your profile:

  • You have a Master degree in Law, Economics, Politics, International Relations or equivalent;
  • You have 3 to 5 years of policy and advocacy experience preferably in Brussels;
  • You have native Portuguese language skills. You are also fluent in English (spoken and written). French and other European languages are an asset;
  • You have a strong understanding of the functioning of the European Union Institutions, processes and procedures; experience in trade policy a plus;
  • You have excellent capacity for research and analysis. Ideally experience in Business Intelligence;
  • You are an autonomous team-player, proactive with a rigorous sense of detail;
  • You possess excellent intercultural, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • You are willing to travel on occasion; some travel to Brazil may be required.
