Nutrition Cluster Co-ordinator

Part of our emergency rapid response personnel, Save the Children’s Nutrition team works in agreement with UNICEF to support newborn and child survival in emergencies. Working closely with government systems and communities as well as partners and other sectors we focus on treatment of acute malnutrition, prevention of malnutrition, active support and promotion of appropriate infant and young child feeding and treatment and prevention of micronutrient deficiency disorders.
As Nutrition Cluster Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading the Nutrition Cluster.. You will work effectively amongst nutrition cluster partners to deliver high quality nutrition responses and ensure the core cluster functions are met. When not deployed to an emergency, you will develop the capacities and knowledge of Save the Children and our national, international and local partners in cluster coordination and contribute to the development of tools and guidance that strengthen coordinated emergency nutrition responses globally. As Nutrition Cluster Coordinator your responsibilities during an emergency will include:
  • Identification of key partners
  • Establishment and maintenance of appropriate humanitarian coordination mechanisms
  • Planning and development of strategy to ensure predictable action within the cluster
  • Application of standards
  • Monitoring and reporting
  • Advocacy and resource mobilization.
To meet this challenge, you will have extensive experience in nutrition programming in humanitarian contexts. Skilled in management of large scale nutrition programmes, where you have demonstrated strong leadership and negotiation skills with partners and senior management, you will be motivated by the high visibility of cluster coordination and the opportunity to develop partnerships globally across the nutrition and broader humanitarian network.
You will have:
  • Significant experience working in emergency contexts, preferably at UN or NGO senior programme management level
  • Substantial experience of working internationally in nutrition programmes in a humanitarian context, preferably this experience will include first phase response
  • A Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, or a related subject, or equivalent field experience
  • Experience developing and negotiating successful partnerships at senior level
  • The flexibility to be deployed up to 80% of the time
  • Excellent English and ideally, fluency in French, and/or Arabic.
