Job Description

The Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Program, funded by the Australian Government, is working with a range of partners within the Philippines education system to support the implementation of the K-12 Education reforms. The Department for Education (DepEd), through The National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), is reviewing the current provision for in-service teacher professional development and formulating new strategies and innovations to ensure that teachers are providing the highest quality teaching and learning experiences to all children.

BEST are seeking a LAC Project Team Officer who work under the direction of the LAC Project Team Coordinator, and as part of the LAC team in partnership with DepEd, coordinate specific planning and implementation activities at school level to ensure that effective support materials for LACs are developed.; introduce new ways of working in schools, monitor and document changes in practice, developing and trialling materials which can then be used with other schools in LACs; report directly to the LAC Project Team coordinator providing both verbal and written reports as agreed in workload planning; work collaboratively with BEST specialists, DepEd, RCTQ and partners to ensure the effective working practice of the team; and, continuously work within a paradigm of continuous improvement, analysing and identifying areas where each project can be supported and strengthened.

Job Description
Responsibilities 

  • To work under the direction of the LAC Project Team Coordinator in order to ensure the team's expected outcomes are achieved within specified timelines.  
  • To introduce new ways of working in schools, monitor and document changes in practice, recording and developing materials which can then be used with other schools in LACs.
  • To report directly to the LAC Project Team coordinator providing both verbal and written reports as agreed in workload planning.
  • To work collaboratively with BEST specialists, DepEd, RCTQ and partners to ensure the effective working practice of the team.
  • To continuously work within a paradigm of continuous improvement, analysing and identifying areas where each project can be supported and strengthened.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Essential

  • Formal qualifications and experience in fields related to Professional Teacher Development; these can include any or all of the following - Education, Psychology, Development Studies.
  • A strong background in education research and an understanding of the ways in which teachers can be supported to position themselves as practitioner researchers.
  • A good understanding of the links between teacher professional development and continuous improvement, action research and reflective practice.
  • Experience in learning and development. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate direct evidence of working practically and innovatively on the development of Learning Action Cells and / or with teachers. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively work as part of an effective team and work collegiately in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good analytical and communication skills including report writing
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong liaison and coordination skills.
