The organization
The IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative helps to accelerate and upscale sustainability within mainstream international commodity markets, driving sustainability from niche to norm. We build ambitious public private coalitions of companies, civil society organizations and governments and high-impact programs in order to benefit people, planet and profit. With co-funding from the Dutch, Swiss and Danish Governments, and from business partners, IDH organizes scoping, development and implementation of public private partnerships in 18 sectors such as coffee, tea, cotton and electronics. IDH is a dynamic organization of about 55 staff members based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, with hubs in Vietnam and Indonesia. In the last year IDH has expanded its activities and now runs around 100 projects through 18 sector programs in 50 countries, together with a wide range of private and public partners.

Fund Manager
(40 hours)

Job profile
As Fund Manager you have the opportunity to contribute to facilitating and driving impact in dynamic sustainable cotton program. You will work in a team with a Program Director, Project Director and Program Officers, in the Cotton program. There may also be an opportunity to play a role in general IDH projects giving you the chance to experience many sides of the organization.
The vacancy is initially for 1 year, with the opportunity to extend the contract afterwards. The position is based in the Netherlands.

Position overview
Reporting to the Project Director Cotton, this role has five key areas:
  1. Responsibility for day to day management of the BCI Growth & Innovation Fund (BCIGIF), developing and implementing operating protocols and process for the BCIGIF.
  2. Responsibility for the support and development of the Better Cotton capacity footprint, oversee and develop the ongoing development and streamlining of the Implementing Partners Application & Contracting Process.
  3. Responsibility for liaison with counterparts at the BCI in Capacity, M&E and Finance. Support the BCI fund raising Director to secure additional funding partners.
  4. Responsible for Business Analysis of portfolio and process to recommend and implement process improvement and cost saving.
  5. Secure compliance and exceed contracted expectations for IDH as the fund manager for the BCIGIF.
Core Job Functions 

1. Operational program management
  • Responsibility for the administration of the BCI Growth & Innovation fund.
  • Responsibility for supporting the development and implementation of the program, including reporting, contract management, development of program pipeline deliverables. This will be done working closely with implementing partners.
  • Responsibility for consideration and analysis of the credibility of data and information produced by the organization's partners relating to output, outcome and impact.
  • Manages financial data in program P&L work sheets.
  • Responsibility for supporting the program with research, administration and logistics.
  • Supports the organization of input from the program partners to enable Operations to run the required program administration and reporting. This includes the development of performance indicators for the management of program pipeline deliverables.
2. Stakeholder management and networking
  • Maintain contacts with existing program stakeholders.
  • Maintain the program's network and contribute to further development of the program.
Requirements
  • At least a bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Strong finance background; P&L, audit & contracting
  • At least 5 years work experience, of which at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Matrix and cross cultural working experience
  • Strong analytical & negotiation skills
  • Interpersonal, communication skills and a team player
  • Comfortable working in a fluid working environment
  • Past experience of having worked in a corporate environment required
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Additional languages are an advantage but not required
  • Self-motivated and proactive, willingness to travel, if required
