Expert for Programme Coordination Turkey/Syria
in Gaziantep, Turkey
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and has an initial contract duration of 12 months. Deployment location is Gaziantep in Turkey. Readiness to travel within Turkey will be required. Subject to the security situation, work travel to the project area in Syria will be required.
Aims and duties of the position
As Specialist for Programme Coordination in the country office, you will support the Country Director in the planning and implementation of programmes and projects, as well as in the conceptional development of the Welthungerhilfe engagement in Turkey/Syria.
Your most important duties:
  • Identification, evaluation and commenting on new project ideas and co-financing opportunities (incl. the production of corresponding applications)
  • Conception of projects and drafting of project outlines
  • Control of Welthungerhilfe quality standards for the appropriate planned implementation of projects and programmes
  • Ensuring appropriate and timely reporting to head office and to co-financing donors in English and German
  • Coordination and quality assurance of projects within the framework of the Alliance2015
  • Participation in coordination panels with other relevant organisations
  • Coordination and guidance of data collection (baseline studies)
As a qualified applicant you will possess the following:
  • A university or polytechnical degree or qualification in the field of emergency aid or other relevant qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in the implementation of projects of international (aid) organisations, good knowledge of the Syrian conflict and, ideally, experience in dealing with Turkish authorities
  • Good knowledge of planning and survey methods (incl. M&E)
  • Excellent communication and intercultural skills in the advising of international and local personnel and partner organisations
  • Coordination and organisational skills, including when working under considerable pressure
  • Very good level of written and spoken German and English; Turkish and/or Arabic language skills are desirable
