Communications Intern - Interpeace

Interpeace is now looking for a communications intern with writing and editorial skills.
 
Reporting to: Director of Global Engagement
Location: Geneva, Maison de la Paix
Authorization: Valid work permit or Swiss or EU citizenship
Period: 3-6 months

We are seeking applications from exceptional and talented writers with a passion for the Internet and social media. If you are currently studying or have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in international relations, political sciences, journalism or a similar field and want experience in one of the world's leading peacebuilding organizations this could be the internship position for you.
 
As a key member of the Global Engagement team you will get to apply your creativity to a broad spectrum of the communications tasks including writing, editing and working on social media. You'll be supporting the preparation of Interpeace communications materials and social media initiatives and using your resourcefulness to solve challenges while building up your working knowledge of peacebuilding.
 
You will be playing an important role in improving awareness of peacebuilding initiatives taking place around the world that make a critical difference to people's lives and their future. www.interpeace.org
 
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Developing publications including the Interpeace Annual Report and other documents. This will include coordination of text, drafting of the body text and headlines, assisting with the approval process, image management, proofing and production
  • Support the development of ongoing communications strategies especially with regards to social media
  • Interviewing and developing content for the Faces of Peace series
  • Drafting content for the institutional website
  • Developing project backgrounders and press releases for the media
  • Summarizing country reports
  • Assisting the team on general communication activities
Requirements:
Languages
  • Fluency in English required
  • Basic working knowledge of French with fluency in Spanish or Arabic desirable
Communication skills
  • Excellent and accurate verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to vary in tone and style of writing according to target audience
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
Project management
  • Evidence of strategic thinking and proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work, manage and deliver projects
Technical skills
  • Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and Adobe
Overall qualification
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Intense attention to detail
  • Keen interest in peacebuilding although no prior exposure required
  • Neutral in outlook
  • Needs to be a self-starter, motivated and a team player wishing to develop or continue a career in marketing/communications or in a NGO
  • Holding or studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
