Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) Consolidation Accountant
£52,000 to £57,801
Intellectual challenge. Real-world impact.
Enjoy both at HM Treasury.
HM Treasury is the UK’s economics and finance ministry. The work we do has an impact on every UK citizen.  We’re tasked with maintaining control over public spending, deciding how money is raised from taxpayers, setting the direction of the UK’s economic policy and working to achieve strong and sustainable economic growth. As WGA Consolidation Accountant, you will be integral to the development of this innovative initiative.
Join our Public Spending Group, and you will play your part in the Whole of Government Accounts (WGA), a set of consolidated financial statements for the public sector that incorporates central government, devolved administrations, local authorities, health bodies and public corporations. It’s a highly complex remit, with challenging technical and logistical issues. You’ll join the team as we work to produce the account more quickly, improve the document, and ensure that the best use of it is made by stakeholders. Your remit will include delivering components of the annual work plan, maintaining the WGA analytical review process and developing communication strategies to promote the use of WGA.
You’ll come to us with significant experience of producing complex accounts, including group consolidations, together with a recognised accountancy qualification, ideally CCAB or equivalent. Skilled in managing large and complex groups of stakeholders, you will be comfortable and confident overseeing project plans and managing the achievement of project deliverables. Your focus on improving the quality and usefulness of financial information as well as your resourcefulness in response to change will be key to our development as an organisation.
