    The role

    We are currently seeking a Senior Signalling Engineer– Design Checker to join our Sydney office.
    Your main responsibilities will be to:
    Ensure that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
    • Proactively collaborate with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
    • Actively contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team
    • Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner
    With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
    Suitable applicants will be able to:
    • Develop methodologies for design
    • Competently provide key technical expertise across a broad range of projects
    • Delivery of projects – including management of sub consultants and other SMEC staff
    • Develop client relationships and interface with clients on projects
    • Manage risk on substantial projects
    • Uphold business process –eg. safety in design and AEO processes for signalling
    • Prepare tenders, marketing materials and presentations in order to win work
    • Approve signalling tenders and manage programs
    • Deliver best client outcomes which have provided cost savings
    • Be actively involved in the industry through industry bodies, papers etc.
    • Effectively lead small teams and contribute to building the technical capability of others
    • IRSE licenced verifier (desirable)
