Project Officer - Volunteer, Mobil Technology Application & Support

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide.
International Medical Corps has been present in Chad since 2004 and currently operates in three regions—Salamat, Wadi Fira, and Lake—providing humanitarian assistance and health care to local populations and refugees.
Malnutrition has been an endemic problem in Chad for decades, especially in the Sahel and in the Lake Region, where global acute malnutrition (GAM) rates are close to or regularly exceed the emergency threshold (15%), set by WHO. International Medical Corps’ main approach to fight against malnutrition is to support Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM). This method has proven to be very effective in significantly reducing the mortality of children under five years old. International Medical Corps expects that even more remarkable results could be achieved by improving the quality of programs through better data management and rapid provision of information and treatment advice. The use of mobile technology provides a way to support health workers in their work, provide remote supervision, and effective monitoring using real time data collection. A CMAM mHealth application was developed for the treatment of acute malnutrition. International Medical Corps will adopt and contextualize the mHealth application to support the CMAM programs in the districts of Bol and Bagassola in the Lake Region.
