Sightsavers, an international development organization that promotes the prevention and cure of avoidable blindness, and promotes equality and opportunity for disabled people, seeks to recruit a mature, experienced, self-driven, dynamic and result oriented Program Officer who is keen to develop a career in a dynamic organization and challenging environment.
Reporting to NTD Programme Manager, the incumbent ensures that the project (DFID/Trust Trachoma
SAFE program) is planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated 'to the highest possible standards as laid out in Sightsavers and Trachoma SAFE.
The ideal candidate will be a Tanzanian national (or any national permitted to work in Tanzania) who possesses a degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education). He/she must have minimum of 5 years working experience, ideally in an NGO environment managing social development related projects. He/she must have extensive programme management experience, with responsibility for large budgets or a demonstrated record of accomplishment in developing and managing development programmes.
He/she must have technical knowledge of two or more of the five leading NTDs and have experience of managing an integrated NTD programme, ideally in an international context, having experience of-all
aspects of project management in donor supported initiatives (especially Multilateral donors
(DFID,USAID,etc). He/she must have experience of working with projects managed through partners
(civil societies, governments etc.). He / she will be a strategic thinker, who possesses strong critical
thinking, problem solving, analytical and presentation skills' with ability to influence high-level ministry officials at both regional and national levels.
