Principal Research Officer

Purpose of the Job
To design, develop and undertake economic and econometric studies on taxation and participate research and development negotiations.

Major Activities of the Job
      i.        Monitor the implementation of the newly introduced tax reform of the government budget.
     ii.        Design, manage and undertake studies related to fiscal policy.
    iii.        Monitoring and updating of tax revenue generation.
   iv.        Participate in tax modeling and the National Task Force for tax administration
    v.        Monitor and undertake macroeconomic development and business cycle reports.
   vi.         Perform in revenue forecasting.
  vii.        Participate in regional free trade negotiations.
 viii.        Contributes to the formation of databases for tax policy purposes.
   ix.        Undertake tax policy related research and trade data analysis
    x.        Participate in monitoring of data warehouse operations.
   xi.        Develop reform proposals on tax system.
  xii.        Coordinate the implementation of the tax stamps scheme.
 xiii.        Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job requirements.
Qualification.
      i.        Advanced Diploma or Degree in Economics or Public Finance or Taxation or
Statistics or Operational Research or its equivalent from a recognized Institution/University.
     ii.        Masters Degree in Economics or Public Finance or Taxation or Statistics or Operational Research or its equivalent from a recognized Institution/University.
    iii.        Ability to use various Statistical and Research Software and Packages.
   iv.        Postgraduate Studies in Taxation/Customs or its equivalent will be added
    v.        Advantage.

Experience
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
