Member Affairs and Global Communications Director

The SEEP Network, founded in 1985, is a global network of practitioner organizations dedicated to combating poverty through promoting inclusive markets and financial systems. Members are active in 170 countries and support several entrepreneurs and their families. ABOUT THE JOB: 
The SEEP Network is seeking a Member Affairs and Global Communications Director. S/he will be responsible for ensuring the quality implementation of the organization's member engagement strategies, organizational communication and marketing, and support and develop strategic alliance with external stakeholders. S/he will contribute to the organization's long term strategic planning and oversight.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and support implementation of member engagement strategies, activities, and services to maximize the organization's value proposition. It includes member orientations, member retention, and contribution to the development of services that meet their needs;
  • Develop and support implementation of data-driven strategies and analysis of member feedback and related activities to support refinement of the organization's services and strategies;
  • Oversee the execution of an effective integrated marketing and communication strategy including utilization of web based strategies, social media, print, and outreach to media;
  • Manage marketing and communications and member affairs staff;
  • Represent the organization at events, meetings, conferences, and other industry related activities;
  • Cultivate long-term strategic alliances with external stakeholders through organization's corporate sponsorship program and other partnership arrangements.
  • Oversee the growth, marketing, and profit potential of the SEEP Annual Conference, regional conferences, and member events;
  • Monitor and manage member affairs and communications budget and annual work plan.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in International Development, Communications, or related field;
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in event planning and execution;
  • Experience working at trade associations or other membership organizations preferred;
  • Creativity in strategy development and tactical execution of strategy;
  • Professionally competent in at least one foreign language (French or Spanish preferred);
  • Proven ability to reach out to a diverse constituency, preferably in a global context;
  • Highly driven and results oriented, strong management skills, ability to set and enforce priorities and deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and  mentor staff;
  • Strong oral and written communications abilities;
  • Familiarity with the microfinance/enterprise development field preferred;
  • U.S. Citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • Experience living and working in developing countries in social and/or economic development preferable.
