Legal Counsels

Purpose of the Job
To prosecute all cases against the Authority, draft legal documents and assist senior legal counsels in advising Heads of departments to ensure the Authority is collecting taxes in accordance with the revenue laws and promoting voluntary compliance.
Major Activities of the Job
                i.        Provide interpretation of applicable laws including those administered by TRA.
               ii.        Review of cases and propose cases suitable for settlement out of judicial processes.
              iii.        Provide legal advice to other TRA departments on issues as may be required
             iv.        Identify potential risks in relation to activities of the department.
              v.        Handle correspondence on legal issues between the Authority, taxpayers and other clients.
             vi.        Draft the legal documents as may be required by the supervisor.
            vii.        Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports.
           viii.        Perform other duty assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements
Qualification
                i.        Bachelor Degree in Law from a recognised Institution.
               ii.        Masters’ Degree in Law from a recognised Institution.
              iii.        An advocate registered in Tanzania or with a permission of the Chief Justice to practise law as an advocate in Tanzania.
             iv.        Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation or its equivalent is added advantage.

Experience.
Three (3) years of relevant work experience.
