Innovation Manager

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Doorways to Dreams (D2D) Fund is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the economic well-being of millions of financially vulnerable American consumers through innovation. D2D generates practical ideas for financial products, services, and policies. It pilot tests its ideas, and pursues scale strategies to reach a number of households. 
ABOUT THE JOB: 
D2D Fund is seeking an Innovation Manager. S/he will be responsible for leading organization's efforts to influence policymakers to ensure that its initiatives jump off of a proposal page and into the real world. S/he will contribute to a financial system that promotes lasting social and economic prosperity for every family. S/he will also strengthen the financial opportunity and security of low and moderate income consumers.  
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Strategize:
    • Develop scale strategies, including business models and public policy strategies, for financial tools and products that help consumers navigate financial challenges and build financial security;
    • Develop public policy strategies and processes to ensure passage of additional innovation-enabling legislation across the US and federally;
    • Manage multiple complex projects ensuring that they are executed on time and meet stated outcomes;
    • Problem-solve creatively and collaborate with a small, results-oriented team to effectively execute projects to provide financial tools and products to underserved consumers.
  • Innovate:
    • Direct innovation projects at the scale stage of the innovation pipeline;
    • Share organization's innovations with industry players, funders, policy makers, and the public sector through presentations, thought pieces and publications;
    • Represent the organization at meetings and events with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences including public officials, policy makers, financial service industry leaders, researchers, and community advocates.
  • Connect:
    • Lead junior staff by providing weekly guidance on project execution and professional development guidance;
    • Employ highly developed interpersonal skills to identify, establish, and manage strategic relationships with financial institutions, financial service providers, legislators, and senior government agency staff to deploy organization's innovations at scale.
Qualifications:
  • More than 4 years of relevant successful work experience with an innovative private, public, or non-profit organization related to the financial services;
  • Desire to achieve significant public policy objectives both nationally and in states across America;
  • Entrepreneurial, emboldened mindset, and who works well and even thrives in ambiguity;
  • Exceptional project management skills in an organized, yet flexible way;
  • Experience leading staff, project teams, and/or managing up;
  • Demonstrated success achieving aggressive goals and timelines with teams;
  • Find creative, innovative solutions to problems and proactively looks for ways to head off hurdles as they arise in the innovative process;
  • Build strong relationships and enjoy connecting with diverse external groups;
  • Bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills and who is comfortable with public speaking;
  • Act with a tremendous amount of responsibility and autonomy;
  • Deeply committed to driving social change through promoting economic prosperity for low-income to moderate-income individuals.
