Communication Expert in the Field of EU Rural Development Policy

Metis GmbH is a private consulting company running amongst others the European Evaluation Helpdesk for Rural Development, commissioned by the EC’s DG Agriculture and Rural Development. The Evaluation Helpdesk has the overall aim to increase evaluation capacity in the field of rural development policy. It develops methodological guidance documents, organizes capacity building workshops in EU28, provides a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise among stakeholders interested in evaluation of rural development policy. Metis GmbH intends to increase the capacity of its Brussels-based team and is looking for a highly motivated communication expert.

Main Responsibilities:

The communication expert will work in a small team of experienced evaluation experts and is responsible for the organisation and implementation of the communication tasks of the European Evaluation Helpdesk for Rural Development:
  • Development of the content and update of the Helpdesk website;
  • Drafting of offical documents: newsletter articles, good practice reports, etc.;
  • Promotion of Helpdesk activities through various communication channels: website, newsletter, social media;
  • Contribution to the organisation of events and workshops;
  • Implementation of the graphic identity of the Helpdesk;
  • Proofreading and quality check of external documents;
  • Supporting public relations: build a targeted list of contacts, identifying PR opportunities, dissemination of information packs, and monitoring of public relations. 

Skills and experience:

The position requires the ability to work in a multi-cultural team. Interested candidates should have:
  • Higher degree and/or professional qualification and minimum 3 years of experience in any field of relevance to the above mentioned tasks;
  • Native-level English;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills; capacity to convey information in an informative, accurate and appealing way;
  • Experience with MS Office, graphics software, web-content-management software;
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and policies, interest for evaluation and rural development policy;
  • Flexible approach to work.

This is a permanent post based in the premises of the Evaluation Helpdesk in Brussels (Métro Montgomery).
