Chief Operating Officer - El Salvador

ABOUT THE JOB: 
FINCA International is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) - El Salvador. S/he will be responsible for directing and daily management of FINCA El Salvador complete cycle of crediting activities and related operations, including staffing, products, and procedures.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible and accountable for directing and administering, through subordinate personnel, operational services to achieve sustainability, growth, and customer service objectives through the development of deposits, assets, and fee based services;
  • Review and evaluate regular reports of branch activities, including staffing, loans, deposits, charge-offs, and audits to meet regional sustainability and performance objectives;
  • Ensure that bank policies and standard operating procedures are consistently and uniformly applied by all branch managers;
  • Identify questionable actions, operational inefficiencies, and problems and follow through with resolution;
  • Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings and maintain a high level of communication within the subsidiary country;
  • Assure physical property and equipment is adequate and in proper working order and delegate necessary work as needed;
  • Participate in the overall operation of the bank through the setting and attaining of a profit plan and control of operating expenses;
  • Resolve personnel problems, and work with the human resources department to ensure resolution within established procedures and guidelines;
  • Evaluate performance on a constant basis, and provide counseling and guidance as needed. Annually prepare formal written performance appraisals in an honest and impartial manner, recommend salary increases and promotions as appropriate;
  • Promote a client services culture and ensure that the staff receives proper training to demonstrate abilities to achieve individual and team performance goals;
  • Conduct staff meetings of operations personnel, or confer with subordinate personnel to discuss operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices.
Qualifications:
  • More than 7 years progressively responsible banking or savings and loan and operations work experience, with  more than 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity;
  • Posses a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, microfinance loan operations, loan processing, quality assurance, loan servicing, and savings;
  • Knowledgeable of the principles, practices, and legal issues relating to staff supervision and performance management, strategic planning, and budget administration;
  • Understand concepts, standards, and procedures relating to individual and group lending, at they pertain to microfinance;
  • Demonstrated ability to: understand/analyze performance/production data to identify improvement opportunities;
  • Manage complex projects that impact organization's operations effectively and within time and budget;
  • Proficient in English and Spanish;
  • Knowledge of FlexCube or similar banking software products, accounting software, internet software, project management software, and spreadsheet software.
