Integra LLC, an international development firm, is seeking an Outreach and Communications Assistant to join the team implementing the USAID-funded Wildlife Crime Tech Challenge (WCTC). The WCTC is a global call for innovation aimed at combating wildlife trafficking. More information about the challenge can be found athttp://www.wildlifecrimetech.org
Overview of Responsibilities
The Outreach and Communications Assistant will:
• Support the implementation of a multi-platform communications strategy that aims to engage a range of audiences, and drive them to the Challenge web platform. Audiences cover civil society, the private sector, international institutions and entrepreneurial individuals. This will involve effective use of social and traditional media.
• Manage the challenge competition’s social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, with potential to add others), including monitoring posted comments, responding to queries and comments, and tracking analytics.
• Monitor website and social media metrics (Google Analytics, Klout) to inform adaptive management of the communications strategy implementation.
• Be able to devise and monitor effective paid media strategies (Facebook, Twitter, Google) that drive content to the web site.
• Manage work planning and other “trackers” in Excel.
• Support day-to-day management and content production for the challenge web platform and other channels, to include curating and generating content, managing discussion forums, and liaising with web developers. Tasks will include copy, editing of blogs and other content products, writing press releases, and designing print materials such as promotional post cards.
• Monitor news sources and specialized publications such as Science Magazine and Nature to find content relevant to the Challenge. Monitor and manage calendars used by the Challenge in outreach and communications planning.
• Provide promotional support to challenge winners, including developing online and print marketing materials and supporting the Scale Manager in monitoring winners’ progress.
• Help the challenge management team in building a community of practice among the public, challenge winners, and potential mentors, including facilitating webinars and internet-based discussion platforms, and promoting winning solutions through media channels.
• Contribute to the planning of an award event, to be held in conjunction with a major conservation event.
• Provide support to other Challenge activities as required, including administrative support on managing submissions and monitoring and reporting on the activities of winners.
Qualifications
• Experience in implementing professional communications campaigns
• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• Very strong writing and editing skills in English. A test of English communications skills may be administered.
• A proven ability to maintain data and analyze it for trends.
• Experience with USAID and U.S. government projects a plus.
• Collaborating and contributing as a team member; understanding personal and team roles, contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members, proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback.
• Prioritizing and handling multiple tasks, researching and analyzing pertinent client, industry and technical matters, utilizing problem-solving skills, and communicating effectively in written (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and verbal formats to various audiences in a professional business environment.
