Job Summary

​Cardno GS is currently recruiting for a Junior Socioeconomic Analyst to work part time collecting economic and sociological data for regional impact analysis. Given guidance and supervision, this position will develop profiles that describe geographic regions in terms of population, employment, personal income, and local government services (such as education and police/fire protection). The Jr. Socioeconomic Analyst will assist in the operation of economic modeling, spreadsheet, and word processing software to support analysis of the socioeconomic effects of existing facilities and potential projects.  The candidate for this position will be able to work from their home while reporting administratively to our Jacksonville, FL office. Amount of working hours will vary weekly based on project demands.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include assisting and supporting the following activities:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate methods of data collection, such as questionnaires or interviews.
  • Collect data about the attitudes, values, and behaviors of people in groups using scientifically accepted methodologies.
  • Compile, analyze, and report data to explain economic phenomena and forecast market trends, applying mathematical models and statistical techniques.
  • Provide advice and consultation on economic relationships to businesses, public and private agencies, and other employers.
  • Assist in formulation of recommendations, policies, or plans to solve economic problems or to interpret markets.
  • Support preparation of socioeconomic, sociocultural, environmental justice, land use compatibility, and ethnographic prioritization studies.
  • Prepare portions of environmental planning documents reflecting data analysis.

Other Requirements

​Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Planning, or Socio-Cultural related degrees such as Anthropology or Sociology. Some post-graduate education in the same fields (current enrollment fulfills this requirement).
  • Familiarity with economic indicators published federal statistical agencies and ability to gather and organize large amounts of data in an efficient manner.
  • Familiarity with indicators of municipal government revenues, costs, and services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills including the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Complex problem solving skills with the ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Training and Experience:
  • Training or experience with gathering and organizing economic and socioeconomic data.
  • Training in report writing to include transferring data from Excel to Word.
