Conference - Commercial, Customer Marketing Manager, Los Angeles

Diageo is the world`s leading premium drinks business with an outstanding collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, beer and wine. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Windsor, Buchanan`s and Bushmills whiskies, Smirnoff, Ciroc and Ketel One vodkas, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray and Guinness.

Purpose of Role:

Deliver the DGUSA NSV and GP plan through brilliant and superior communication, commercialization, and execution of the National Execution Plan, the Innovation Agenda and identifying and executing against local business development opportunities.

Complexity of Role 
 
  • Must be able objectively evaluate regional and local revenue driving opportunities through a balanced marketing and commercial lenses
  • Role is expected to spend 3 days per week 8am-5pm and 2 days per week 3pm-11pm ensuring local market execution is perfectly set up and executed
  • Ability to work in conditions which include multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities, extended work schedules and short time constraints.
  • Ability to interact with, influence and collaborate with Trade Marketing, Brand teams, Innovation, Sales teams, Distributors and Customers

Key Outputs:

Planning
 
  • Commercial input into NEP
  • Responsible for formally inputting regional commercial marketing needs into NEP development and ensuring final plans are commercially grounded
  • Responsible for identifying regional Chain and multi-cultural overlay requirements and drivers into the development of NEP overlays in line with the planning calendar
  • Business Development
  • Fully developed business development proposals in conjunction with planning calendar
  • Market Intelligence
  • Responsible for collecting, maintaining and utilizing key local market intelligence around competition, customers, distributors and industry
Commercialization
 
  • Responsible for fully commercializing all National integrated programs, Regional Programs and innovation for their respective regions and markets
Communication
 
  • Responsible for ensuring the divisions and distributors are fully informed, excited and have all of the tools to sell and drive all elements of the National Execution plan
Execution
Overall NEP and Innovation Execution
 
  • Program-manage all marketing initiatives including sampling, display merchandising, event marketing, couponing, etc., from production through scheduling and activation.
  • Coordinate all programming elements and materials to be delivered on strategy, on budget and on time.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and provide feedback for ongoing improvement
“Home” City Execution
 
  • Personally accountable for ensuring in market activation readiness and execution in the key city in which they reside. Adjusted work hours allow will ensure we are in the accounts in the key selling days and preparing for key weekend selling periods
  • Provide infrastructure, direction, tools and leadership to “feet on the street” resources to amplify the impact in terms of effectiveness and scale
On-going business management
 
  • Formally participate in BPM's, R&O's and AOP planning Meetings
  • Constantly evaluate growth driver effectiveness
Diageo Marketing Code Compliance
 
  • Ensure complete adherence and compliance to DMC

Qualifications and Experience Required:
 
  • Spanish speaking preferred
  • College degree with 5+ years of relevant business experience
  • Experience working in sales and marketing environments
  • Experience in working with promotional agencies and third party vendors
  • Customer-facing skills (presentation, fact-based selling, buyer/supplier relationships)
  • Demonstrated success leading projects through successful implementation
  • Successful people management and development
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Must be PC proficient, especially with PowerPoint, Excel and Word
