Advocacy and Research Fellows

Advocates for Human Dignity was founded in an effort to promote awareness for the violation of basic human rights, the promotion of educational efforts to bring human rights issues to a larger audience, the promotion of a peaceful dialogue regarding human rights issues and the organizing of support efforts to help those in need.
The fellowship will be held remotely. Unfortunately AHD is not in a position to provide remuneration of any kind. This fellowship is unpaid.
The fellow will solely research and write on trends in international Human Rights Law and Transitional Justice.
Minimum Qualifications
§ A Masters or PhD candidate in political science, international relations, human rights, international development or a related field
§ Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
§ Ability to work independently
§ 1-3 years experience in international development, human rights, and advocacy.
§ Strong knowledge of human rights principles and mechanisms, and understanding of democracy promotion
§ High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
§ Ability to collaborate with others as a team. Comfortable working in a multicultural environment where gender equality is expected.
§ Consistent and reliable internet access
§ MUST be available for 10-15 hrs a week to volunteer
§ French an asset but not required
§ Knowledge of statistics an SPSS an asset but not required
Some Duties and Responsibilities
§ Publish two short articles per week. Prepare a research project
§ Prepare one research project during the duration of your fellowship that is linked to the work of AHD
§ Research assistance and data analysis for human rights developments for our central Africa program and other regional programs and projects as needed.
§ Contribute to the preparation of reports, proposals, grants, press releases, and budgets as required
§ Work in conjunction with the Director of Advocacy and Research and the Executive Director as necessary.

Successful candidates will be expected to take up the fellowship between the beginning of November and the beginning of January. The minimum duration of the fellowship is two months.
