WASH COORDINATOR (BARCELONA)

At Oxfam Intermón, we believe in justice and solidarity, and work to change the world for the better. We are on the ground, active and implementing comprehensive programs in approximately fifty countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia, working on more than 500 development and humanitarian action projects, promoting fair trade and social awareness and mobilization campaigns.
Oxfam Intermón is member of the Oxfam Confederation and we are currently undergoing an internal change with the launch of a plan “Oxfam 2020” which envisions a future where we are a more interdependent network, driven more by knowledge, organized for more simplicity internally and more globally balanced, with more Oxfam affiliates in southern countries that can raise their own funds, run their own programs, make their own alliances with local people’s movements, and lobby their own governments and businesses.
From our offices in Barcelona and reporting to the Head of Thematic and Methodological Development Area, the selected person will be responsible for the strategic and operational development of the Water, Sanitation and Public Health Promotion of Oxfam Intermón (OI) within the Oxfam 2020.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and contribute in the WASH Oxfam Intermón 2020 group in order to build the new Oxfam working model related to the WASH Area
The Coordinator will monitor, adapt and/or define the WASH strategy to assure that Oxfam Intermón have WASH policies, methodologies and institutional processes harmonized with the Oxfam Confederation in the frame of the Oxfam 2020 process.
Lead a small and enthusiastic team in headquarters , including regional and mobile teams with individual specialisations.
Ensure that Oxfam Wash teams, from HQ to field programs have the knowledge and capacity to integrate WaSH programs with other key interventions (EFSL, Protection).
Ensure strong coordination within headquarters and regions, including coordinated planning (support visits , workshops, learning) with other units.
Ensure and manage a knowledge sharing system to improve the quality of WaSH programs through successful learning and capitalization.
Representing OI on platforms, in forums and universities on themes connected with WASH at national and international level, as well as with the global Oxfam network.
Promoting and participating in studies and research to improve the provision of OI wash services.

What are we looking for?

Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience and achievements of the following areas:
University qualification in any area connected with water, sanitation and/or promotion of health and hygiene: civil engineering, environmental sciences, geology, physics and chemistry.
Postgraduate studies related to WASH in developing countries and a comprehensive understanding of wáter, sanitation & higiene programming from Emergency to would be an advantage.
Minimum experience of 4-5 years working in Humanitarian Action in WASH coordinations posts preferably in countries with a high level humanitarian profile.
Experience of 3-5 years in management multicultural teams.
Experience in program planning, both in and outside of humanitarian field contexts.
Fluency in English and French is esssential and working knowledge of Spanish is highly desirable.
Commitment to travel approximately 30% of the time.
Result orientated and organisational capacity.
Flexibility and adaptation to change. Communication skills.
Experience in the Oxfam confederation will be a plus.
Identification with and commitment to the mission and values of Oxfam.

Contract of employment: Contract for 1 year.
Gross annual salary: 38.733,76 euros + family supplement (€473 per annum per child/ maximum 4) -Expenses paid or per diem during missions.
Holidays: 27 working days in the 2014.
Location: Post based in Barcelona, with frequent travels.
