CBL-ACP Traineeship - Research Assistant

About the CBL-ACP:
The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture – Belgium∙Luxembourg∙Africa∙ Caribbean∙Pacific has 50 years of experience as a Chamber. We aim to facilitate and develop economic exchanges between Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries. Our experience gives companies and organisations the opportunity to strengthen their contacts and presence in these countries.

This provides for an exciting opportunity in being actively involved in a dynamic process, in which your ideas and analysis will contribute greatly to the work of our Chamber. You will be a part of a very well developed network of various people and institutions, and it will be important for you to attend all types of meetings and conferences connected to our activities.
This traineeship is a great opportunity to acquaint yourself with the private sector and the interaction between business and politics. Furthermore, it will allow you to acquire knowledge about ACP countries in general.
Main activities of the future trainee:
  • Attending relevant meetings, conferences as well as seminars in Brussels and writing reports.
  • Representing the Chamber at official events (for example embassy receptions) and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Writing articles for the CBL-ACP magazine.
  • Monitoring African (business) policy.
  • Developing a new communication strategy (including the idea of creating a new website) to enhance the visibility of the CBL-ACP.
  • Different administrative tasks such as organising meetings etc.
We will cover your transportation costs as well as your daily lunches. Additionally, if an interesting seminar gets your attention – we will pay for you to attend!
Who are we looking for:
An ideal candidate is in the process of finishing, or has completed, a Master’s Programme in International Relations, Political Sciences, International Trade and/or Development, Business, Communication, or in another relevant field.
Other desired qualities:
  • Good writing and oral skills in English and French. Any other language will be considered an asset, especially Dutch.
  • Ability to write clear and precise reports.
  • Sociable personality, as you will have to attend a lot of meetings and liaise with stakeholders.
  • A desire to learn about private sector representation and ACP countries.
  • Any relevant international experience can be beneficial.
