The Garside PhD Studentship in Developmental Psychology , Newcastle University

Name of the Supervisor
SponsorThe Garside Legacy
Duration of the AwardThree year PhD
Project DescriptionHuman tool use is remarkably complex and even very young children are adept at using tools. Despite a recent focus on how children socially learn to use tools, less is known about how children learn to make tools.
The PhD project will address the strategies children use when socially learning how to make tools and how these strategies interact with other developing abilities, specifically episodic foresight.
The project may also include comparisons to atypically developing populations with regard to when and how children use social information. For more information please contact Dr Bess Price:Elizabeth.Price@ncl.ac.uk
