The Organisation

QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets. 

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. 

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 

Position Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for embedding HSSE into the operations team and providing support to Operations and Maintenance regarding HSSE for all related activities in process and common facilities.

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific• Provide strong HSSE Leadership and Champion HSSE initiatives to keep focus at all times on Zero Harm.
• Support the Permit Issuers and Permit to Work Authority as required.
• Facilitate Level 2 Risk Assessments as required
• Conduct Site Inspections, audits, communicate deficiencies and track actions to completion.
• Assist in identification of HSSE risks, maintaining and continually developing the Site Risk Register.
• Establish, implement and monitor quality plans to ensure the integrity and safety of the worksites in accordance with the licence, standards and codes
• Support HSSE incident investigations and ensuring Lessons Learned are implemented
• Support with HSSE communication including shift team meetings, toolbox talks, shift handovers and reporting.
• Ensure shift compliance to HSSE standards and procedures.
• Ensure that maintenance is executed safely and is compliant with PTW procedures.
• Review and implement field employee training and development programs as it relates to the Permit to Work process
• Delivery of the Production Barrier Model Assessment on a shift by shift basis

People Management• Motivate shift personnel of various levels and expertise.
• Verification that competency of shift personnel is appropriate and verifiable.
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Lead and report on HSSE incident findings relating to their shift.
• Ensure HSSE requirements are maintained and improved for all operational aspects.
• Ensure proper reporting of all process and HSSE related incidents and support the investigation and follow up.
• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all supervisors are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Technical Experience• Solid HSSE and Operational knowledge within LNG or Petrochemical and Utilities.
• Good understanding of Plant Maintenance requirements
• Knowledge of Permit to Work Systems and requirements, electronic systems preferable.

Experience• Extensive HSSE experience 
• Good knowledge of electronic process controls and safeguarding systems
• Solid experience working in the petrochemical industry
• Ship loading experience preferable
 
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes• Extensive operational HSSE experience.
• Good understanding of HSSE framework.
• Ability to mentor and coach staff.
• Sound knowledge of workplace regulation
• Strong knowledge of environmental health & safety legislation 
• Strong commitment to Safety and Environment
• Competent in risk assessment and evaluation with respect to safe work systems
• Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Incident Management Databases
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.
• Ability to write and present technical information to peers, management and third parties.
• Positive, open minded and strong ability to interact with other disciplines.
• Able to work in a structured fashion – good planner, organiser and excellent people manager.
• Demonstrated consciousness of the Quality, Health, Safety Security and Environment issues on the plant.

This position is essentially a HSSE Advisor but you will be embedded into one of the Production Shift teams and will be working the Continuous Shift Roster, the pattern is 5 days on, 4 days off, 5 nights on, 5 days off, 4 days on etc.
