Principal Accountant
Position Summary
BGSGM has exclusive rights to import 3 mtpa of LNG into Singapore for a period of up to 20 years. This is anticipated to be a US$2 billion business by 2015. To-date, we have entered into 13 GSAs for periods of at least 10 years with customers in Singapore and multiple master gas sales agreements for short term gas supply of up to 1 year. There are also potential for further growth on gas trading transactions.
As Finance Partner to Gas Marketing & Commercial Operations, this role will be responsible for the delivery of all BG Singapore Gas Marketing Pte Ltd (‘BGSGM’) finance functional responsibilities which includes the developing and maintaining of finance related processes and procedures, leading and coordinating the delivery of timely and relevant reporting, budgeting, invoicing, audit and cash management.
As Finance Partner to Gas Marketing & Commercial Operations, this role will be responsible for the delivery of all BG Singapore Gas Marketing Pte Ltd (‘BGSGM’) finance functional responsibilities which includes the developing and maintaining of finance related processes and procedures, leading and coordinating the delivery of timely and relevant reporting, budgeting, invoicing, audit and cash management.
Key Accountabilities
• Ensuring delivery of a robust financial control framework in compliance with BG’s Group governance framework;
• Manage interfaces both externally (Regulator/Terminal/Customers) and internally (Commercial Operations, Gas Marketing, other Front Office functions and Houston/Singapore Back Office) for BGSGM finance matters;
• Ensuring adherence to the key commercial agreements in the operation of BGSGM’s business to ensure compliance to agreements and custodian of BGSGM’s Accounting Procedures;
• Key facilitator of audit by counterparties;
• Providing finance analysis & assurance for transactions associated with BGSGM’s commercial arrangements;
• Providing finance input to IT system configurations to handle BGSGM finance related issues in compliance with Group Policy and contractual terms;
• Champion the delivery of strong financial discipline in particular on accuracy of relevant reporting, invoicing, cost/ cash flow management & balance sheet; and
• Ensuring that all financial returns ( statutory /regulatory ) are submitted on time and in accordance with commercial agreements

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• Strong team player who has previously worked across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams over multiple locations
• Experience gained within the Finance function of a marketing/trading organization will be a strong advantage
• Experience with complex IT systems environment with multiple platforms and global integration
• Good understanding of BG’s systems and processes
• Experience with setting up finance functional processes, governance framework and internal controls in an evolving business environment

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with relevant post qualification experience
• Experience within the Oil and Gas Industry, especially with LNG business or natural gas sales
• Exceptional commercial acumen with good analytical skills
• Good knowledge of IFRS with good understanding of BG’s Finance governance framework and processes
• Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving
• Strong desire to develop their career in a fast-paced and evolving finance environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence & develop strong working relationships with people from different functions, cultures and locations
• Robust in their views and strong presentation skills
