The opportunity

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to play an active role in identifying and resolving equipment and plant problems.

Located in the central Pilbara, west of Karijini National Park, Tom Price is Rio Tinto's original Pilbara mine, currently employing about 950 people mainly on residential rosters. Tom Price is one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly ambitious individual with the ability to take on new challenges. Working on a fly in fly out role with 8 days on and 6 days off roster and reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be:

• Providing technical engineering support to the client
• Managing electrical equipment reliability and process improvement engineering
• Ensuring compliance to the Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO’s) Electrical and Safety standards
• Identifying and implementing electrical systems and plant improvement opportunities
• Ensuring reliable and efficient operation of the control and communication system including software, hardware or firmware

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:

• A tertiary degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or Control System Engineering
• A current Western Australian “C” class driver’s licence
• Extensive electrical engineering experience in mining or similar industry
• Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer within a fixed plant environment

A post graduate qualification will be highly regarded. PLC and CITECT SCADA Systems experience will be desirable.
