Data and Business Intelligence strategist

The Corporate Strategy Unit (CSU) carries the role for organizational strategy and strategic funding.  On the strategic side, consider approaches to effective monitoring & evaluation (M&E) as well as impact measurement. In the area of funding, building and maintaining strong relationships with key international institutional funders.
Your objective 
As data and business intelligence strategist you have experience in bold, value-creating approaches to data collection, business intelligence and IT, bringing boardroom-relevant criteria to process improvements and business requirements and helping high-performance businesses to “think bigger” about IT’s ability to improve operating results. The strategist will need to be a leader in content and in his/her capacity to manage and improve the complex processes and to help realize the innovations in business intelligence and data structures.  In doing so, the strategist will need to work with internal parties like program units, IT and Board of Directors, external experts and contractors, to deliver high-impact business pursuits.
Your tasks
  • You lead a cross-Cordaid data intelligence project team (6 persons), providing overall content direction and oversight in the creation of high impact solutions that deliver valuable data for business intelligence.
  • You create business intelligence and business requirements at operational and programmatic levels as well as beneficiary experience.
  • You realize results that are of distinct added-value to Cordaid’s leading position in open development.
  • You engage with the external market in support of Cordaid’s thought leadership in this topical area.
  • You guide team members to ensure that project focus is on target and work is accomplished on time and of the highest quality standards.
  • You guide team members to ensure that functional requirements are well defined and changes will be functionally and technically implemented.
Your profile 
  • You have a Master’s in Business Administration or related field;
  • You have a minimum of 10 years experience with improving business value through managing processes, data structures and business intelligence;
  • You have a minimum of 10 years experience writing business cases (quantitative and qualitative) to support strategic business initiatives, process improvement initiatives, or IT transformation;
  • You have a minimum 10 years experience leading or managing small teams effectively including planning/structuring analytical work and facilitating team workshops.
  • You have a successful track record translating data and business intelligence processes into functional strategic IT requirements (e.g. IT capability improvements, key initiatives, roadmaps);
  • You have a minimum of 10 years experience working with clients (e.g. strong relationships, influence over direction), either as an external consultant or an internal client/customer supporting role;
  • You have strong capacity to initiate and identify opportunities with a clear cost/benefit;
  • You have experience leading or managing small flexible teams effectively and planning/structuring analytical work;
  • You have strong written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to travel;
