Trademark Attorney

Patents, trademarks and other intellectual property rights are vital and high-priority elements of the Sandvik business operations. Sandvik Intellectual Property AB (SIP) is a part of Group Function Legal with global responsibility for the coordination and integration of Group IP operations, including protecting and enforcing IP rights.
We are now looking for a Trademark Attorney, located in Sandviken.
Key performance areas
As Trademark Attorneyyou work with the protection and defense of all trademark rights of the Sandvik Group. You will act as a link to the brand manager at the business area and give support in trademark, copyright and domain name matters.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Ensuring clearance of new names/trademarks, trade names and domain names
- Preparing trademark applications
- Handling office actions, opposition actions and cancellation actions
- Portfolio management
- Competitor monitoring
- Customs recordal
- Copyright registration
- Counterfeit issues
- Infringement matters
- Negotiations with external parties in co-existence discussions
- Trademark due diligence in acquisitions
- Training
- Coordination with relevant legal counsel responsible for the respective BA
You are a member of the Trademark Team at Sandvik Intellectual Property.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master of Law degree or other relevant academic education, as well as relevant trademark education supplied by any patent and trademark office or other qualified supplier. You have excellent knowledge and understanding of the legal trademark process, from name proposal to granted registration, opposition proceedings and invalidation actions in several jurisdictions. Further, you have knowledge and experience from working with counterfeit, copyright matters, domain name disputes and, to some extent, also patent and design related issues.Good communication skills in English, both in writing and in speaking, are a prerequisite for the position. Knowledge of Swedish and/or Chinese is an advantage. It is advantageous if you have knowledge and ability to use the IT system Ipendo Platform.
As a person you are an analytical problem solver, with good interpersonal skills. You gladly take the initiative when needed, and you are both driven and able to take on different projects. To be well suited for this role, you also need to be an efficient communicator.
