The Organization:
Since 1974, IFDC, an international, not-for-profit 501(c)(3), has focused on increasing and sustaining food security and agricultural productivity in over 100 developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise throughout the world.
The Role:
The Talent Acquisition Specialist reports to the Human Resources Officer (HRO) for Recruiting and Employee Relations at IFDC Headquarters in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. This newly created position will specialize in the sourcing and acquisition of (primarily) contracted (non-regular) employees, the majority of whom will be located in Africa or Southern Asia. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for the creation of a protocol to successfully manage the life-cycle of the consultancy contract. Key stakeholders in this process will include the leadership of Human Resources, Finance, and global Operations- as such, the incumbent will be required to traverse the expectations of a diverse group of constituencies.
The anticipated responsibilities and duties:
  • Creating, implementing, and managing short-term employment/consultancy contracts
  • Creating a strong collaborative relationship with both internal and external departments to ensure key deliverables are defined and expectations are met.
  • Interpreting employment/consultancy contracts, specifically Scope of Work clauses within those contracts.
  • Developing a process to ensure the consultancy contract is delivered in an unbiased and ethical manner, leading to the most qualified talent assuming the consultancy roles.
  • Developing and maintaining a pipeline of qualified talent
  • Coordinating with Compensation, Accounting, and Finance to ensure payments are carried out within the language of the contract.
  • Acting as a point of contact in the absence of the HRO.
  • Maintaining the integrity of employment/consultancy files and HR contract databases.
  • Assist in the creation of a contractor performance review metric.
Required Skills
Core Competencies:
  • Business Acumen: Ability to manage the life-cycle of the consultancy contract- focus on efficiency and continuous improvement with the ability to think and act with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment that supports the interests of IFDC and the mission of the Office of Human Resources.
  • Persuasion and Negotiation: As a non-profit, extrinsic financial reward will not always be the motivating factor for our employees and consultants. The incumbent MUST be able to persuade potential consultants to the intrinsic value found in the work itself as a motivating factor.
  • Communication: The incumbent MUST be a dynamic and proactive communicator, experienced in working with a multi-cultural/multi-lingual/multi-ethnic workforce is highly desired.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business (with a HR emphasis), or a related field;
  • Experience working with employment and consultancy contracts;
  • Experience recruiting and working with expatriate, third-country national, and local-national employee groups;
  • Experience in global employment recruitment;
  • A demonstrated ability to act with a sense of urgency and balance competing demands;
  • Preferred knowledge of the Silk Road Suite of on-line HR related programs;
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Access (preferred);
  • Preferred experience in ADP Workforce Now.
  • A passion for our global mission;
  • A demonstrated eagerness and willingness to learn and grow in the field of HR;
  • A preferred basic fluency in French.
  • PHR/SPHR/GPHR Certification is desirable
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for day to day client contact
