Senior Regional Emergency Response Coordinator

Working in 50 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, Plan’s stated Global Strategic Goal (2011-15) is to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalised, with high-quality programmes that deliver long-lasting benefits. Plan is responding to the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan and the South Sudan refugees in 4 other countries i.e. Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya. To strategically take on a regional approach to the response, we are looking for a Senior Regional Emergency Response Coordinator (SRERC) with a senior leadership profile and a proven track record successfully managing emergency programming around the world. You will lead and profile the overall South Sudan regional emergency response and will report to the Regional Director while maintaining strong information links with the respective Country Directors, the Regional and Country Disaster Risk Managers as well as International Headquarters and National Office Disaster Risk Management units. In addition you will specifically support a co-ordinated approach to fundraising and profiling of the crisis within Plan and the wider public. Further you will provide strategic leadership in all areas of emergency programming and strengthen the overall capacity of relevant countries to respond to the current emergencies based on anticipated changes in South Sudan from conflicts or natural disasters.

You will be a highly experienced humanitarian leader with proven emergency programming experience. Strong background in complex emergencies needs assessments, response planning and management. Experience with USAID, OFDA, UNICEF, ECHO, DFID, UNHCR, and private funding sources. In addition you will have relevant qualification in disaster management, development studies, social sciences, or other relevant field. Previous experience in ongoing conflict or post conflict areas would be advantageous.
