Senior Mechatronics System Engineer/Architect

You will be based in Bjerringbro, Denmark and join the Electronic Development within Business Development. We are responsible for developing software, electronics and electronic housing for all Grundfos products. You will be part of a team of 7 specialists each with their specific strategic responsibility – such as requirements, testing, architecture, outsourcing and portfolio planning. You report to Manager Jan Søndergaard:

”In this position, you will get the opportunity to define the platforms of Grundfos’ future products and set the strategic direction for how we operate. Our department is on an exciting journey and you will be using your hands-on technical skills and strategic insight to ensure that compliance and cross-functional accountabilities are achieved,” Jan says.

Setting the direction
As Mechatronics System Engineer and Architect, you are responsible for the strategic direction of the common mechanical, electronic and software (mechatronics) systems as well as architecture and platform structure. Thus, you make sure that the ED Mechatronics architecture and platform setups are able to support the future needs of Grundfos. At the same time, you continuously optimise the ED mechatronics platform setup and work hands-on with development and frontloading projects, and you serve as the key person in defining architecture of new products.

“Your central challenge will be to maintain an overall picture of a process involving several elements and contributors. You also need to establish our strategic direction as well as help define how we implement the strategy hands-on,” Jan says.

A skilled change agent
You have a master’s degree or a Ph.D. and are skilled within mechanical, electronics and have knowledge about software development. This is combined with minimum 7 years of experience and you have previously worked as a change agent, creating platforms and reusable components. Also, you speak and write English at a high level and it would be a plus if you also know Danish and German.

As a person, you are outgoing and as an architect, you reach out to others to gain new insight on processes and set-ups. As such, you are always up-to-date on the latest developments and best practices within the field, and you are dedicated to mechatronics becoming a high priority area that can unite cross-disciplinary and cross-area expertise. Finally, you are capable of implementing the new initiatives and deliver tangible results.

“You are not afraid to challenge established procedures and drive changes. However, with your strong people and technical skills, you are also able to create unity and build bridge across different ways of working,” Jan says.
