Project Coordinator, Evaluating the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Property Rights Project (Mongolia)

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), is an international non-profit research organization. Based in New Haven, CT, with offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide, IPA works with development partners and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches to solving development problems, to communicate “what works” in development and to scale up successful projects in a variety of fields, including health, education, microfinance, governance and agriculture.
Position Summary:
Innovations for Poverty Action seek qualified applicants for the position of Project Coordinator in Mongolia. The main project they will be responsible for evaluating is the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Property Rights Project (PRP). PRP focused on improving the accuracy, accessibility and efficiency of Mongolia’s land titling and registration system to enable Mongolians to capitalize their land assets, make longer-term investments in their homes and businesses, and expand opportunities for generating income.
 Responsibilities:  
Project Coordinators will work closely with academic researchers and other field staff to perform a variety tasks including, but not limited to: keeping abreast of developments in local government and land market that will impact the evaluation and clearly communicating these developments to the donor and researchers; designing, piloting, and refining survey instruments; conducting qualitative research; procuring and managing relationships with survey firms; overseeing data collection field activities; checking, cleaning, and analyzing data; assisting in the writing of project reports, design documents, and policy memo; and supporting outreach to policymakers in country. The Principal Investigators for this project are Leigh Linden, Erica Field, and Shing-Yi Wang.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
  • Training in development economics.
  • Familiarity with randomized controlled trials and research methods.
  • Experience living and working in a developing country is a strong plus.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills.
  • Fluency and excellent communication skills in English.
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player.
  • Proven record of executing complex tasks within tight timeline
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations and government officials.
  • Extensive knowledge of Stata (strongly preferred), SAS, or other data analysis software to conduct statistical analysis.
