Process Development Engineer
Sandvik Teeness AS, a subsidiary of Sandvik Coromant, is the world's leading manufacturer of anti-vibration tool holders and has great expertise in anti-vibration for machining processes. This includes responsibility for R&D, Product Development and Market Support. The products are proprietary and patented and marketed under the name Silent Tools® and distributed by Sandvik Coromant to industries worldwide. Sandvik Teeness has a long local history in Trondheim, Norway, and has been a part of AB Sandvik Coromant since 2008. The organization has had continuous growth over many years, which is expected to continue both in short and long-term perspectives. Sandvik Teeness has about 122 employees and is well established in a new modern building close to the city of Trondheim.
Process development is a separate unit under Production. It comprises the majority of support functions for production, and our mission is to provide a service that guarantees high-quality processes that are also efficient and safe.
Your duties
As a Process Development Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that Teeness maintains its ability to deliver products of the required quality efficiently by improving and modernising production processes. You will also be expected to help renew and improve processes for manufacturing the company's products.
Key duties include:
- Procuring machinery and equipment
- Continued development of machinery and equipment
- Developing and implementing methods for safeguarding efficient production of a high
standard
- Verification and testing of methods, equipment and tools
- Project participation or management
- Capability assessment of processes and machinery
- CAM or support for NC preparation
- Support and training for operators and apprentices
- Daily operational support
- Project participation or management
- Capability assessment of processes and machinery
Some travel may be necessary during the year, approximately 5 to 20 days.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering within the relevant fields, as well as someone with knowledge of machine tools, machine controls and methods for process development and improvement. Experience of working in an engineering industry and with associated systems is desirable, but it is more important that you are an enterprising individual with the ability to acquire new knowledge and skills. Experience of machining is considered an advantage, as is experience of production processes. You are able to use and adapt to new computer-based tools and previous experience of text processing, CAD/CAM or programming is considered an advantage. You have a good command of both written and spoken English, and knowledge of Norwegian and Swedish is preferable.
You are able to work with others and have the ability to see the big picture and take an analytical approach in your work. You must also be able to see things through and have good communication skills. This position will enable you to acquire new knowledge and skills while drawing on the expertise of other employees.
