Background / General description:
The reform agenda initiated by Mexico in key areas such as Energy, Natural Resources, Infrastructure, and access to global markets will generate the need for substantial risk capital in the form of equity and mezzanine financing to be successful. IFC is keen to assist by deploying its own resources and mobilizing additional risk capital to enhance the growth potential of Mexico, thereby creating the potential to further reduce poverty.  IFC will be establishing a dedicated equity team in Mexico. The equity team will initially consist of 3-4 investment professionals. Given the current opportunities arising in Mexico, IFC is looking for equity investment professionals with experience in the following “core areas”: • Infrastructure – including power generation, distribution, water concessions, transportation and logistics • Natural resources – including opportunities related to increased private investment in oil and gas.  • Telecommunications • Investments that capitalize on Mexico’s growing position as a platform to access international markets.
Duties and Accountabilities:
The equity team will be responsible for: • Developing relationships and a strong pipeline of transactions in the areas noted above, • Assessing, structuring and negotiating potential investments • Recommending investments for approval  • Actively managing investments, including board representations and exits The equity team will have the full support of IFC’s staff including technical specialists, environment and social staff and legal
Selection Criteria:
Successful candidates will have: • Exceptional client relationship skills and contacts in Mexico, • Ability to understand key industry drivers, business strategy and add value to partners with whom we invest • Proven track record of executing, managing and exiting private equity transactions in emerging markets. Experience in one or more of the core areas noted above • Teamwork skills and a business mind-set with a “can-do” attitude and the ability to make tough decisions under pressure • MBA or relevant post graduate study in one of the core areas APPLY
