Mechanical Engineer: Packaging

Diageo Leven is a white & brown spirit and RTD production facility delivering to 240 markets worldwide. The Mechanical Production Engineer plays a major role to ensure minimal downtime of our production lines and ensure compliance with all current legislation.

About the role

As a member of the Production Engineering team you will work closely with line teams and be supported by electrical and mechanical colleagues to improve line reliability, line performance and support asset performance and maintenance programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

•Ensure day-to-day running of all services and equipment, clearly communicate process and plant status to the other team members and shifts. Must respond promptly and appropriately to plant emergency and breakdown situations.
•Maintain and repair plant to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiencies and ensure compliance with all H&S and revenue and customs legislation including risk-assessing changes to the plant and process.
•Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
•Proactive development of effective working practices to optimise people and costs. Support and actively contribute to line improvement plans. Actively support and develop other team members.
•Fully comply with all legal and statutory Diageo requirements and risk management standards.

Experience Required:

•Must be a ‘Time Served’ Engineer preferably with HNC qualifications.
•Ideally previous experience in a bottling or high speed manufacturing environment.
•Proactive in identifying opportunities to continually improve and implement sustainable solutions to technical problems.
•Active participation in the change process.
•As well as developing your own technical skills, play a significant part in coaching and developing others and provide constructive feedback and challenge where necessary.
