Position Summary

Asset Overview
The Europe E&P asset is committed to maximising the exploration and production potential in the North Sea and Norwegian Continental shelf. As one of the most active explorers in this region, we’re investing today to help secure supplies for the future. With interests in more than 40 fields, we are one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the North Sea and Norwegian sector.
The asset’s production is delivered by 2 principal parts of the organization led by the Asset VP and Technical VP.
The Technical VP and supporting origanisation is accountable for developing and delivering the required Technical and contract strategies to deliver all necessary support requirements to the Asset Managers for safe and effect delivery of their business plans and to maximize the value of their assets.
Position Overview
The Technical Assurance Manager is the technical responsible person (TRP) for the asset. The principal role of the TRP is to provide the asset managers with technical assurance of continued fitness to operate and that the asset integrated plans demonstrate the ability to maintain fitness to operate with a continuous strive for reduction in risk to that of ALARP.
As TRP the incumbent ensures that that the company technical standards and guidelines are applied to asset or that robust dispensations can be applied where sufficient mitigation can be applied. They will ensure development and application of risk management process and systems are in place and applied by the relative asset personnel e.g. Management of change and Cumulative Risk Assessment.
The Technical Assurance Team deliverers the required assurance of owning Performance Standards and asset Integrity Management standards for which Technical Delivery team will develop the maintenance and inspection plans for execution.
The range of scope of these services is predominantly focused at the EEP Operated Assets but the Technical Assurance Manager will ensure there is capability, internally or contracted service, to provide to support to leased facilities and facilities operated by others as demand requires.
The technical Assurance support to EEP assets is delivered as followed
Asset Technical Authorities(ATAs)
The following disciplines are represented with ATAs;
Process, Mechanical, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Pipelines, Structural and Technical Safety.
Verification
Delivers the requirements of the interface with the ICP, owner of the contract and resultant action management plans.
Additional support resources to the Assurance team are provided from the Technical Management Services Contracts.
The Technical Assurance Manager, a key member of the Technical leadership team, and is expected to provide input into the Asset vision and strategy.
The Technical Assurance Manager must provide strong leadership, clear direction and recommendations for continued fitness to operate and assurance of integrated plans.
The Technical Assurance Manager is expected to challenge internal standards and process, where they are not value adding, whilst ensure continued safe operations and compliance with the UK/Norway legislative framework. This will be done through continuous collaboration with the Technical support functions in BG Advance.
The job holder will be expected to ensure the Asset strategy is clearly understood by the team and all work activities conducted, internally or contracted, are in support of this strategy,
Furthermore the job holder will be required to ensure each functional team is equipped with the skills and capability to successfully deliver in their respective
areas of expertise.

Key Accountabilities

Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviors.
The incumbent of this role is expected to demonstrate safety leadership through proactively leading both behavioral and technical safety.
Accountable, as TRP, for providing technical assurance support to the asset managers to ensure continued safe operations.
Ensures that process and systems are in place for the monitoring and maintenance of the barriers that prevent a major accident hazard.
Accountable for input into the development and implementation of life of field strategies to deliver sustainability of Technically assured, reliable and efficient Operating Assets.
Influencing non-operated partners to deliver improved Technical assurance and performance of their assets.
Accountable for overseeing the development of local policies and procedures for the asset relating to Technical Safety Assurance.
Overall accountability for making authoritative recommendations on technical matters where intervention is necessary.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Essential Experience
 ·           Relevant engineering or scientific degree, chartered engineer (or equivalent), supplemented by extensive industry experience and a proven ability to stay current with new technology
·         Detailed leadership experience of managing technical safety in operations in an industry operator, some of which from working on the UKCS
·         Extensive experience of leading and delivering a technical assurance organisation in projects or operations.
·         Technical safety professional with wide exposure to diverse technical and business environments.
·         Evidence of strong delivery of technical support to a commercially complex portfolio of assets
·         Experience of engineering assurance and verification for brownfield operations and/or capital projects.
·         Experience of reputation and risk management of materially significant assets
·           Interaction with and influence of Partner groups in order to maximize support for operational delivery
·           The ability to set the HSSE standards required and to lead by example to ensure that all aspects of the work are completed safely and in line with BG’s HSSE expectations.
·         Skilled in the scope and application of required technical assurance processes with mastery in the application of VAF and BG’s functional processes
·         Leader and motivator. Able to motivate teams of personnel with different experience sets and to align those people to delivery of the business plan.
·         Has a detailed understanding of the relevant regulations and standards.
Desirable Experience
·           Experience of managing an integrated planning system
·           Experience of innovation in service provision is highly desirable
·           Some recent experience of BG Groups North Sea operated assets is desirable
