Eastern Regional Customer Marketing Manager

The Eastern Regional Customer Marketing Manager (RCMM) will be responsible for 5 regions (Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and P.E.I.). Each region has their own annual programming calendar, application process and different priorities in terms of category management and growth. As a result, the Eastern RCMM role is a very engaged and fast moving role.

The RCMM will be accountable to the region for all retail (and some on-premise) activities on the Diageo Total Beverage Alcohol portfolio.

The RCMM will require a deep understanding of the provincial merchandising rules, regs and timelines. 

Diageo Canada will be working with a new sales broker model starting July 1st, 2014. As a part of the new broker model, there will be a counterpart to the RCMM (Trade Development Manager) who will work closely on ensuring sales materials, program details, inventory requirements are all provided to the Sales broker team.

The combined retail budget for the Eastern region that the RCMM will be responsible for is $8M and discounts budget of $5.5M

The successful candidate will reside in Montreal and need to be fully bi-lingual in English and French.

Purpose of Role:
The RTMM will be responsible for developing regional retail trade marketing plans which deliver upon both Brand strategies as well as customers goals to support the achievement of regional objectives. This includes strategically planning with the Key Account Manager and brand teams 6-9 months in advance and applying for all agreed upon programs with the Liquor Control Boards on time.
They will also manage their regional retail budget and ensure they do not overspend their budget.
They will build and manage relationships across internal and external key stakeholders, working closely with the brand teams, Commercial Planning and Activation team and key account manager for the LCBs.
Must have excellent analytical, influencing, organizational, computer and communication skills

Key Outputs and Deliverables:

 
  • Translate consumer brand strategies at the regional level into retail (and on-premise) programming ideas
  • Develop and maintain a retail activity calendar which is on strategy
  • Manage the Regional Retail budgets
  • Optimize the efficiency of activities and spend
  • Conduct program measurement and evaluation of activities and recommend changes if necessary
  • Regionalization of sales tools
  • Manage sampling budget and execution
  • Manage Regional Show budgets and execution

Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential:

 
  • Speaks fluent English and French
  • 3 - 5 years of Trade Marketing experience required, preferably within a fast moving cpg environment.
  • University degree or higher
  • Strong MS Office knowledge
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel
  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Must have excellent analytical, organizational, computer and communication skills

Desirable:
 
  • Good knowledge of internal business partners
  • Industry experience
