Development Engineer (Software and FPGA)

Our Client – Is a leader in wind power technology and their R&D department has an exciting opportunity for a Development Engineer to join their Wind Power Converter Control team.
This busy department is rapidly expanding due to demanding new projects, and more advanced applications of power converters. You will be responsible for developing the control systems for future wind turbine converter systems and ensuring that these control solutions are sufficiently robust to meet the demanding range of applications into which they will be applied.
Job Description –
What are my responsibilities?
  • To identify, refine and document software and FPGA requirements for a real time, embedded system
  • To design, document, implement and debug software and FPGA components that meet specified quality criteria
  • To design, document and implement tests of software and FPGA components
  • ·To build, test and release versions of software and FPGA
  • To be able to work independently, self manage and prioritise tasks
  •  Reports to Team Leader - Frequency Converter Software

Candidate Requirements –
What do I need to qualify for this job?
  • Designing software and FPGA for embedded systems
  • Designing software and FPGA for testability
  • Familiarity with motor converters / low voltage equipment / motor control / power electronics
  • Familiarity with software quality management systems such as source control / documentation control / bug tracking / static code analysis / code reviews
  •  Inter-process communication
  • Multi-processor programming
  • Knowledge of FPGAs
     
What do I need to qualify for this job?
  • Experience of C/C++
  • Experience of VHDL
  • Object Oriented Analysis and Design
  • Experience of software design lifecycle, documentation of design, test, implementation
